Application Background

Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant is one of China’s pioneering commercial nuclear power plants and has played an important role in supporting Hong Kong’s electricity supply and the transition toward cleaner energy.

For its 1000 MW nuclear power unit, reliable condensate water quality is essential to maintaining stable operation of the scondary water-steam cycle and protecting downstream chemical treatment equipment.

Since 1999, our filtration technology and equipment have been applied to water treatment processes at Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant, providing long-term support for the reliable operation of its generating units.

 The Problem

During the operation of the condensate system, iron-containing particulate contaminants and corrosion products can enter the condensate water.

If these contaminants are not effectively removed, they may:

  • Increase the iron content of condensate water
  • Increase the treatment load on downstream chemical purification systems
  • Affect the operating condition and service life of chemical treatment equipment
  • Increase the consumption and discharge of demineralized water
  • Create additional challenges for maintaining high-quality secondary-cycle water

For a 1000 MW nuclear power unit, continuous and reliable removal of iron-containing impurities is therefore important for maintaining condensate water quality and protecting downstream treatment processes.

 The Solution

We designed and manufactured a customized condensate iron removal system specifically for the 1000 MW unit at Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant.

The system was designed to effectively capture and remove iron-containing particulate contaminants from the condensate stream before the water entered the downstream chemical purification process.

 Key solution features:

  • Customized design based on the operating conditions of the 1000 MW unit
  • Iron impurity removal from condensate water
  • Protection of downstream chemical purification equipment
  • Reduction of chemical demineralized-water consumption and discharge
  • Continuous filtration for stable long-term operation
  • Integration into the existing condensate treatment process

By reducing the iron impurity load entering the chemical purification system, the solution helped improve the overall efficiency and reliability of the condensate treatment process.
